The Grandmother Temple Site, the earliest homeland of people in Zhengzhou
The Grandmother Temple Site is located in Yingtaogou scenic area,Erqi District, the southwest suburb of Zhengzhou,Henan Province.
In an excavation area of 50 square meters, the archaeologists found more than 3,000 stone artifacts and 12,000 animal bones and fragments,20 plus fire remains,as well as multiple layers of overlapping and continuous distribution of ancient human habitation.
The discovery provides a very clear picture of the continuous human activity in the central camp, and it also unearthed a series of cultural relics closely related to modern behavior.
The discovery of the Grandmother Temple Site is further connected with a large number of paleolithic sites that have been investigated and excavated at the southeastern foot of Songshan Mountain in recent years.
The sites are distributed along both sides of the ancient river and have their own relatively independent areas of activity. The new discovery confirms that there was a flourishing paleolithic culture and complex dwelling form in the Central Plains as early as 30~50 000 years ago.
