Zhengzhou Session of “Henan in the Past Decade” Press Conference Opens

On October 10, The CPC Henan Provincial Committee held a special press conference themed "Henan in the Past Decade" on Zhengzhou Session, focusing on the relevant situation of high-quality economic and social development of Zhengzhou since the 18th CPC National Congress, and the practice of continuing efforts in the new journey of modern city construction.

The conference introduced that in the past decade, Zhengzhou has always focused on the high-quality development, and its comprehensive strength has jumped to a new level.

In 2021, Zhengzhou's GDP reached 1,269.1 billion yuan and its resident population increased to 12.742 million.

According to statistics, the new urbanization rate of Zhengzhou increased from 66.2% in 2012 to 79.1% in 2021, and the city's built-up area reached 1,342.11 square kilometers.

In the past decade, Zhengzhou has taken the lead in building a asterisk-shaped high-speed railway in China ,and presented a three-dimensional transportation.

In the past decade, Zhengzhou has taken high-quality manufacturing as its main direction and accumulated new potential energy for economic development.

In the past decade, Zhengzhou has invested 25.635 billion yuan on the construction, renovation and expansion of 330 compulsory education schools, including 224 primary schools, 83 junior middle schools and 23 nine-year schools, adding a total of 489,300 degrees.

In the past decade, Zhengzhou has firmly implement the new development philosophy, boost efficiency in the use of resources, strengthen protection of the ecological environment. Zhengzhou has built a 76.5 km ecological corridor along the Yellow River, drawing a "green ribbon".

In the past decade, Zhengzhou has made great efforts to ensure and improve people's livelihood and achieved new results in shared development. Investment in the people's wellbeing has been effectively ensured, with funding accounting for more than 70 % of general public budget expenditures. A number of projects aimed at improving people's wellbeing have been launched every year, and the people's living standards have been significantly improved.

Looking back on Zhengzhou's development over the past decade, the rise of economic strength, the renewal of urban appearance and the improvement of people's livelihood are all practices of the new development philosophy in the Central Plains.
