Unearthed from the Fu Hao Tomb in the Yin Ruins，this piece of jade hare is an ornament of the late Shang Dynasty. It was excavated from the Tomb of Fu Hao in the Yin Ruins in Anyang, Henan Province in 1976.

Measurements: Length 10 cm, Width 5.8 cm, Thickness 0.5 cm

Period: Shang Dynasty (1600 B.C. – 1046 B.C.)

Provenance: Anyang, Henan Province

Fuhao was China's first female general and Emperor Wu Ding’s wife of Shang Dynasty. She had bravely led the Yin army fighting in many wars and made great contributions to the protecting of the country. After her death, Wu Ding built a huge tomb to honor her merits. Buried together with her were many slaves and war prisoners as well as 1,928 sacrificial objects. Tomb of Fu Hao is the only well-preserved tomb unearthed so far in the Yin Ruins. The large numbers of sacrificial objects are valuable cultural relics in the treasure house of Chinese art.
