In May 2019, Zhengzhou Metro Line 5, the only loop line in Zhengzhou Rail Transit Network Planning, was opened to traffic, outlining the blueprint of Zhengzhou Metropolitan Transport System.
2019年5月，郑州地铁5号线通车，这不仅意味着郑州轨道交通线网规划中唯一的一条环形线路开通，而且勾勒出了郑州大城区交通体系的蓝图。
The effect of a loop line is self-evident for the development of a city, for it is the connector shared by all the other lines with each other and the bond to link all urban districts, just like a gathering ring. So, what power can Metro Line 5 bring to Zhengzhou?

“Metro Line 5 is the fifth completed ring subway line in China, and is also the only rail transit loop line planned in Zhengzhou - the fourth city in China to complete such a line. Named “golden belt” of Zhengzhou, Metro Line 5 heralds Zhengzhou’s entering the era of quality subway, smart subway and cultural subway from the era of product subway. ” Wang Shiwei, director of the Department of Party and Mass Work of Zhengzhou Metro Group Co., Ltd. said that the Metro Line 5 will constitute a “Cross + Ring” network with the Line 1 and 2 in operation, which basically covers all administrative districts of Zhengzhou, and greatly reduces the transfer passengers in the central area of the city, making the travel even faster and smoother.
“5号线是全国第四个城市、第五条已建成的环形地铁线路，是郑州市轨道交通线网规划中唯一的一条环形线路，被称为城市的‘金腰带’，也是郑州地铁从产品地铁时代开始迈入品质地铁、智慧地铁、文化地铁时代的标志性线路。”郑州地铁集团有限公司党群工作部部长王世伟介绍，5号线工程初期运营后，将与运营的1号线、2号线构成“十字+环”运营线网格局，基本覆盖郑州各行政区，而且可以在环线截留外围乘客，有效减轻城市中心区的换乘压力，使市民的出行更加快捷、顺畅。

According to information, work began on building the Zhengzhou Rail Transit Line 5 in December 2014; the tunnel was holed through on June 10, 2018; the track was wholly laid on June 30; the power was fully supplied on September 30; the line was put into trial operation on December 29. With a total length of 40.4km, Line 5 is a loop line at the outskirts of the city, and runs through Jinshui District, Zhongyuan District, Guancheng Hui District, Erqi District, Zhengdong New District, Economic and Technological Development Zone and Zhengzhou National High & New Technology Industries Development Zone. There are a total of 32 stations set up, including 18 transfer stations, at which passengers can transfer to 11 metro lines such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 according to the Zhengzhou rail transit network planning.
据了解，郑州市轨道交通5号线于2014年12月正式开建，2018年6月10日全线“洞通”、6月30日全线“轨通”、9月30日全线“电通”、12月29日开始试运行。该工程属于城市核心区外围边缘的环形线路，全长40.4km，全线设站32个，贯穿金水区、中原区、管城区、二七区、郑东新区、经开区、高新区。其中，换乘站共18座，将来会与郑州地铁线网中的1、2、3、4、6、7、8、9、10、11、12线等11条地铁线实现换乘。

Metro Line 5 passes through People's Hospital of Zhengzhou, Henan Provincial People's Hospital, Henan Cancer Hospital, Zhengzhou Children's Hospital, Henan Orthopaedics Hospital, Zhengzhou Central Hospital, and Zhengzhou Second Hospital, connecting the most hospitals among all metro lines in Zhengzhou, very convenient for the people to seek medical treatment.
地铁5号线途经郑州人民医院、河南省人民医院、河南省肿瘤医院、郑州市儿童医院、河南省骨科医院、郑州市中心医院、郑州市第二人民医院等知名医院，是目前郑州地铁网线中串联医院最多的线路，方便百姓就医。
It can carry over 700 people more than Line 1.

Compared with the lines in operation, the trains on Line 5 are obviously larger, and can carry 700 people more. A-type trains for Line 5 are 140 meters long and 3 meters wide, 20 meters longer and 20 cm wider than the B-type trains for Line 1 and 2; the former have 5 doors in one side of each carriage, 1 more than the latter. Thus it is estimated that the maximum passenger capacity per train on Line 5 can reach 2,592 persons, 712 more than the B-type train.
相比目前已运营的线路，5号线的列车明显大一些，可多载700余人。5号线列车为A型车，车身总长达140米，比1、2号线使用的B型车长20米;车身宽3米，比B型车宽20厘米;每节车厢单侧有5个门，比B型车多一个。估算下来，5号线每列车最大载客量能达到2592人，比B型车多承载712人。

The Central Business District Station of Line 5 is located in the CBD area of Zhengdong New District, where there is a double parking line. The total construction area of the station is 34,000 square meters, equivalent to that of about 5 standard football fields. It thus becomes the largest underground station in Zhengzhou.
5号线的中央商务区站，位于郑州东区CBD区域内，站后设置双停车线，车站建筑总面积达3.4万平方米，大约相当于5个标准足球场，是郑州地铁目前规模最大的单座地下车站。

Stations along the Metro Line 5 are well decorated, just like an art exhibition hall, soothing the soul of every struggling people in the city. It is called the “online celebrity” in metro lines. At Zhengzhou East Railway Station, there is a suspended ceiling themed with “Colorful Central Plains” in the center, which symbolizes Henan embraces all colorful Central Plains cultures, and there is also an art gallery of Yan and Huang Emperors, human ancestors, Fuxi and Nuwa, Three Emperors and Five Sovereigns, and a cultural wall of Lao Zi riding on a black ox and dragon rising through clouds; the Central Business District Station, with green as the main color, uses the tree-like geometry, combined with natural elements of the ceiling, to show the flourishing development of the city and signifying a better future;the Zhongyuan Tower East Station is decorated with a large mountains-and-waters painting; the Huanghelu Station, based on the cultural characteristics of the surrounding areas, adopts blooming flowers to show the growing prosperity of Zhengzhou’s business trade; the Yaozhai Station uses a large number of LED ring and strip lights to constitute some novel and unique patterns, especially the white clouds; Jing Kai Zhong Xin Guang Chang Station uses color and structure design to echo the ground sports avenue, reflecting the theme of urban sports. At the Yueji Gongyuan Station, the murals present a lively scene of working peasants, expressing the love of the industrious Central Plains people for life.

As we all know, the subway will generate loud noise when running, greatly reducing the riding comfort of passengers. In order to provide a better riding experience, and allow passengers to feel the homely warmth during their travels, Zhengzhou Metro Line 5 specially uses the double-layered floors for noise reduction. In addition, green is the main color of Line 5, manifesting its pursuit of low carbon and environmental protection. LED lamps in the train can save energy more than 30%, and the electric heating seats will give a sense of warmth in the cold winter.
众所周知，地铁运行时噪声较大，这是影响地铁乘坐舒适度的一个重要原因。为了提供更好的乘坐感，甚至让乘客在出行中也能感受到家一般的温暖，郑州地铁5号线专门进行了降噪处理，其使用的地板都是双层的。与此同时，5号线标识色是绿色寓意低碳环保，列车内使用LED灯具可节能30%以上，电加热座椅让严冬不再寒冷。
