“Cancer Buster” from ZZU Elected Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering丨郑大“洋院长”当选中国工程院院士

　　Last morning, the result of 2017 cooptation of CAE academicians was announced. A total of 18 foreign experts were elected as foreign academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.Professor Nicholas Robert Lemmon, Dean of the School of Medical Sciences of Zhengzhou University was among them.

　　According to the reports, Nicholas Robert Lemon is the first Chinese Academy of Engineering foreign academicians in Zhengzhou University and Henan Province. Previously in 2011, Professor François Martti of Zhengzhou University was elected as foreign academicians of CAE. Frances Marty is a French chemist, who was electedas an academician of the French Academy of Sciences in 1998, and he is now the incumbent director of ZZU’s International Phosphorus Chemistry Laboratory of Zhengzhou University, as well as the director of China and France organophosphate functional materials joint laboratory .

　　昨日上午，中国工程院2017年院士增选结果公布，共有18位外籍专家当选为中国工程院外籍院士，郑州大学医学科学院院长尼古拉斯·罗伯特·莱蒙教授名列其中。

　　据介绍，尼古拉斯·罗伯特·莱蒙是河南省、郑州大学第一位中国工程院外籍院士。此前，郑州大学弗朗斯瓦·马蒂教授2011年当选中国科学院外籍院士。弗朗斯瓦·马蒂是法国国籍化学家，1998年当选为法国科学院院士，现任郑州大学国际磷化学实验室、中法有机磷功能材料联合实验室主任。

　　Professor Nicholas Robert Lemon is a world-renowned expert in molecular oncology, gene therapy and translational medicine, he is also academician of the British Academy of Medical Sciences. Besides, he acts as the chief editor of Gene Therapy, the famous journal by Nature Group, as well as the trustee of the British Medical Research Foundation.

　　It is reported that Professor Nicholas Robert Limeon has been committing to the awareness and treatment of cancer, and he have made a series of landmark progress in this area. The following are his achievements: he has published 272 Papers on Nature Biotechnology and other world-class journals; 20 plus international academic awards have been got by him; he has established the world's first pancreas expression database PED (Pancreas Expression Database) with his team members.

　　尼古拉斯·罗伯特·莱蒙教授是世界著名的分子肿瘤学、基因治疗和转化医学研究专家，英国医学科学院院士，现任世界Nature集团著名期刊《Gene Therapy》杂志主编、英国医学研究基金会受托人主席。

　　据悉，尼古拉斯·罗伯特·莱蒙教授的整个职业生涯都致力于对癌症的认知和治疗，在这一领域取得了一系列标志性进展：主要研究成果在Nature Biotechnology等国际一流期刊上发表了272篇论文;先后获得20多项国际学术奖;带领团队建立了国际上第一个胰腺表达数据库PED (Pancreas Expression Database)。

　　In 2015, Zhengzhou University was committed to advancing the construction of first-class universities and first-class disciplines. 　　In 2017, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to medical education and research in China, the Chinese Government Friendship Award was given to Professor Nicholas Robert Lemmon by the State Department.

　　2015年，郑州大学正在致力于推进一流大学和一流学科建设，医科作为学校的传统优势学科，肩负着率先进入一流序列，率先实现国际化，率先培养一流人才的重要使命。当年4月，郑州大学新成立了医学科学院，聘请尼古拉斯·罗伯特·莱蒙教授担任院长。

　　担任郑州大学医学科学院院长以来，尼古拉斯·罗伯特·莱蒙建立和完善了与国际接轨的教学、科研、管理模式及运行制度，积极促进了中外医学科研交流合作。

　　2017年，鉴于其为我国医学教育和科研事业做出的突出贡献，国务院授予尼古拉斯·罗伯特·莱蒙教授中国政府友谊奖荣誉。
