　　On the spot the reporter saw that the surrounding environment is quiet and the architecture is simple and elegant. Made of blue brick, the Dengfeng Observatory is divided into two parts: the "platform" which is up to 12.62 meters high and the "Measuring Ruler" which is laid on the ground. Over the past 700 years, the Observatory is have been standing. At present, the restoration of cultural relics and the improvement of the surrounding environment of the observatory are proceeding in an orderly manner, making adequate preparations for the torch relay.

　　记者在现场看到，观星台景区环境幽静、建筑古朴拙雅，整座观星台由坚硬的青砖石建成，分为高达12.62米的“台身”与平铺在水平地面之上的“量天尺”两大部分，历经700多年依然屹立不倒。目前，观星台文物修缮和周边环境提升工作正在有序进行，为火炬传递活动做好充足准备。

　　

 

　　Located in Gaocheng town Dengfeng City of Henan Province, the Observatory is one of the eight historical building groups in the world cultural heritage site "Heaven and Earth". It is the earliest astronomical observation building in China and one of the most important astronomical monuments in the world.

　　坐落在河南登封告成镇的观星台是世界文化遗产“天地之中”历史建筑群八处十一项之一，是目前中国现存最早的天文观测建筑，也是世界上重要的天文古迹之一。

　　

 

　　According to research, Dengfeng Observatory was built around 1279 AD, which happened to be the first year of the Yuan Dynasty. At that time, Kublai Khan appointed Guo Shoujing to conduct nationwide astronomical surveys, which was known as the "four seas test" in the history. Guo shoujing has set up observation stations in 27 places across the country, the north one is near the Arctic Circle while the south one reaches the the Xisha Islands.

　　根据考证，登封观星台始建于公元1279年前后，恰好是元朝初年。当时，元世祖忽必烈任命郭守敬进行全国范围内的天文测量，史称“四海测验”。郭守敬在全国27个地方建立了观测站，最北接近北极圈，最南抵达西沙群岛。

　　

 

　　Situated in the hinterland of central China, the Dengfeng Observatory was the focal point of 27 observatories across the country at that time.
